Egg Donation Treatment

yumurta donasyonu tedavisi

Having a baby is the most beautiful and happiest dream of all couples. Everyone dreams of creating a new living thing from their own part and witnessing its birth and development. However, sometimes things don't go as planned. Many factors such as genetic factors, disorders or advancing age caused by one of the couples may not allow natural and healthy pregnancies.

Fortunately, nowadays, thanks to advancing medicine, methods such as vaccination, in vitro fertilization and even egg transplantation have become quite common. In this way, thousands-hundreds of thousands of couples have been able to have children. Undoubtedly, every couple wants to have a baby that carries parts of themselves and their spouse. Couples who cannot have this naturally as a result of various factors can fulfill their wishes by placing the embryos fertilized in the laboratory environment into the mother's uterus with vaccination and in vitro fertilization treatment. However, in order for these methods to be used, the ovulation functions of the expectant mother should work at a sufficient level. For expectant mothers who cannot get pregnant with their own eggs, egg transfer (egg donation) is the only sure way.

Egg Donation; It is the process that takes place in the form of placing the embryo in the uterus of the mother by fertilizing the egg cells to be taken from the donor / donor by the in vitro fertilization method, with the sperm taken from the wife of the woman who will be the recipient, in a laboratory environment. These procedures can be applied in our Girne IVF Center in Cyprus.

Who can apply for Egg Donation?

  • Those who have applied to in vitro fertilization method before and did not get positive results

  • Those who have their ovaries removed for various reasons

  • Women who enter menopause at an early age

  • Those who want to have children at an older age

The age of the woman is very important in terms of fertility and reproduction. As the age progresses, the chances of a healthy pregnancy decrease. In other words, even if pregnant, there are anomalies such as Down Syndrome or the risk of miscarriage. Egg donation application is almost the same as IVF treatment. However, unlike this treatment, the egg cells are not taken from the expectant mother, but from another donor. The selection of donors is a sensitive issue that requires a lot of attention. Generally, women between the ages of 19-30 and women who have given birth in a healthy way before or who have healthy children as a result of egg donor are preferred. In addition, factors such as blood group, ethnic and physical characteristics and educational status should be suitable for the expectant mother.

After the donor is selected, the donor, recipient and the recipient's spouse are put through a series of tests before the donation process is applied. First of all, the prospective mother is checked by a doctor, and her first evaluation is made by measuring her physical characteristics and some values. Afterwards, blood group, whether it carries AIDS virus (HIV), Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C determinations, blood count, rubella, immunity tests and sugar measurements are made by blood analysis. In order for the recipient to have a healthy pregnancy, whether the uterine cavity is normal or not is checked by hysteroscopy or hysterosalpinography.

At the same time, the donor is also examined by a doctor, the first determinations are made, blood group, blood count, sugar, HIV virus detection and hepatitis B and C measurements are made, such as the tests applied to the recipient mother. In addition, the donor Donor Profile Form undergoes RPR testing for cervical cultures for Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma, for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis. For the husband, semen analysis, blood tests, blood group, Hepatitis B and C tests and AIDS (HIV) test are done.

Before egg donation, the donor's and recipient's menstrual (ovulation) cycles should coincide with birth control pills and similar drugs. On the second or third day of the first menstrual period, while the recipient is getting ready for the intrauterine embryo transfer, the donor should also start the egg-enhancing drugs, and the treatment process, which will last for 10-12 days, begins. On the day the eggs are taken from the donor, the sperm of the father-to-be are collected and subjected to microinjection. Afterwards, similar to IVF treatment, the embryos are transferred to the uterus of the recipient mother within three to five days and waited for 12 days, and a pregnancy test is applied to the expectant mother.
